Limits, stated plainly

This page costs us a browser launch per capture, so it is capped rather than unlimited. Six captures an hour per visitor, and a shared daily ceiling across everyone. Only successful captures count — a typo, an unreachable site or a blocked address costs you nothing, and repeat URLs are served from cache and do not count either.

Fixed at 1280×720 PNG. No full-page capture, no PDF, no video, no custom viewport, no cookies or headers, and public pages only — anything behind a login will render as the login screen. If you need any of that, the API does it and the free tier covers 100 captures a month.

When you want the API instead

The tool is for one-off captures by hand. The API is for the cases where that stops being practical:

  • In your own code — a REST call from any language, with official Node.js and Python SDKs.
  • Full-page, PDF and scrolling video — the formats this page deliberately does not offer.
  • Pages behind a login — pass cookies or headers and the capture runs authenticated.

Is this really free?

Yes — no account, no card, no email. The limits above are how it stays free: six successful captures an hour per visitor and a shared daily ceiling. Failed attempts do not count against you.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The capture happens on our servers and the PNG comes back to your browser. There is no extension, and nothing runs on your machine.

Can I screenshot a page behind a login?

Not here — this tool only loads public pages, so you will get the login screen. The API supports cookies and custom headers for authenticated captures.

Why did my capture fail?

Usually the site is slow, blocks automated browsers, or is behind a bot wall. Some sites deliberately refuse headless traffic. Private and internal addresses are refused by design.

How long is the image kept?

It is served from a CDN and cached for a while, but treat the link as temporary. Download anything you want to keep.

What is the difference between this and the API?

This page is one fixed 1280×720 PNG with no options. The API adds full-page capture, PDF, video, custom viewports, authenticated pages, scheduling and batch — with 100 captures a month on the free tier.
